Puja ma’am was very short tempered and the strictest teacher aboard our bus. Children used to avoid her and hated to sit even two seats near her. No one liked her until yesterday.
It was a usual afternoon when our bus was stuck in the B2Bypass traffic. Suddenly we bumped into an alto’s rear mirror. It was an accident. Two affected people jumped into our bus and started arguing with the driver to pay the compensation. All of us were clueless about what would happen. Would we be able to escape from paying the fine? Would we live in Jail from today? Or would our parents need to be invited to confront this? Everyone wanted to reach home as they were troubled by the scorching heat. All teachers seemed to enjoy meekly the arguments between strangers and the driver, but Puja ma’am.
Puja ma’am listened patiently to extreme abuses, given by the unwanted guests. She stood up on our bus driver’s side and her courage and bravery were exemplary. She told them that by one call she could bring fifty police officers in a minute as many of her family members were government officers. It doesn’t matter if that warning was real or fake. She gave them her phone number and asked them to leave. They finally understood and left. We got dropped at our homes. All that mattered at that time was an adorable lady who saved us even when it was not her duty.
I realized that judging someone from her outside behavior without much knowledge may lead to misjudgment.
Little incidents teach important life values. This incident changed my perspective on my teacher. It is just like looking at the other side of the story. Now I have raised a level of respect in my mind for her. My heart is full of flowers for her. I look up to her for inspiration
